Brussels Economic Security Forum 2025

On 5–6 June 2025, the European Policy Centre (EPC) held the inaugural Brussels Economic Security Forum (BESF) in Brussels.

The Forum addressed urgent global challenges at the intersection of economic policy, strategic autonomy, and geopolitical rivalry.

The two-day event gathered senior policymakers, business leaders, and experts from over 10 countries to explore how to safeguard economic security without dismantling the foundations of open international trade.

BESF 2025 tackled topics like economic statecraft, tech sovereignty, critical infrastructure, and rethinking partnerships across a multipolar world.

Highlights included the launch of the Forum’s flagship publication, showcasing contributions from leading think tanks, as well as closed-door roundtables on EU-Japan cooperation, China relations, coercion and sanctions, and the protection of underwater infrastructure.

EPSO applauds the EPC’s initiative to promote dialogue around the concept of open economic security and its implications for global resilience and sustainable growth.
